The Legend of Zelda series is about a lot of things. It’s about childhood, exploring the world, maturing and growing as a person. It’s about using your wits and tools to navigate difficult environments. It’s about the joy of saving the world, and the pain of failure. It’s maybe the greatest video game series of all time. What makes The Legend of Zelda series so special is that it constantly reinvents itself around the same tropes and narrative beats – Ganon or another enemy will always rise up, Link will always have to make new friends to defeat them, and by the end you’ll always feel stronger, better, like a hero at the end of an important journey.
