Contra

The Contra series spans many games, but they all have one thing in common – they’re hardcore (so much so that there’s a spinoff called Hard Corps). These side-scrolling shooters are inspired by the Hollywood action cinema of the 80s, with lots of huge guns and bulging muscles, and they’re celebrated for their unique into-the-screen sections and challenging, enjoyable gameplay.
