Donkey Kong is the most iconic ape in gaming – and the game that started it all has held up. The game, which introduced the world to Mario (then “Jumpman”) and his simian nemesis, is such a well-made game that there’s still a huge competitive scene around it, and the Donkey Kong Country series are the best 2D platformers Nintendo’s ever had outside of Mario.
