Fallout
War never changes, but Fallout certainly does. The series started as an isometric RPG, and while the original two games are still fantastic, the modern Fallout is a very different thing. From Fallout 3 onwards, the series has embraced a first-person shooter-RPG with turn-based elements, with rich, detailed worlds that you can save or destroy, characters you can help or kill indiscriminately, and post-apocalyptic environments filled with secrets. The series has even expanded into multiplayer with Fallout 76, a flawed but fascinating experiment. There’s no consensus agreement on which Fallout is best, but the fact that fans love arguing about it is a testament to the passion its apocalyptic wastelands inspire.
